VALADEZ is a social worker, filmmaker, fundraiser, and impact strategist. Her first film, GOING ON 13, premiered at the TriBeCa Film Festival, broadcast nationwide on PBS and screened at film festivals around the world. In addition to her work on The Pushouts film and campaign, Valadez is in production on the feature documentary Teacher Like Me, which tells the stories of five leaders of color striving to become teachers in a system that once failed them. All three of Valadez’s feature documentaries explore themes of race, class, education, and coming of age in 21st Century America. She has been honored with both the BAVC Media Makers’ Fellowship and the Women of Color Filmmakers' Residency and has been selected to attend CPB’s Producer's Academy, NALIP's Latino Producer's Academy and NALIP’s Media Market. dawnvaladez@gmail.com
