All badge holders must pick up their summit pass at the Pre-Function Terrace located on the 5th Level of the Hollywood & Highland center. The registration booth will be located just outside The Ray Dolby Ballroom.
Latino Media Market: Executive Meetings (Restricted Access. By Invitation Only) • (Restricted Access. By Invitation Only)
Day Two of the Latino Media Market: Industry executives take meetings from selected participants to pitch their documentary, low-budget feature, TV or digital web series idea in order to secure completion funds or distribution.
There has been a significant rise of Latinos in the ever-growing Technology Sector! Join Manos Accelerator, showcasing a powerful Latina technologist, creator of a social-registry platform for discovering, favoriting, buying or gifting products from your favorite TV Shows. Also featuring two Latino innovators: one in virtual reality crafting a solution to alleviate stress and anxiety in the workplace and another taking you one step closer to reality through 3D animation. STEAM & Storytelling “Speed Dating” Engagement • Co-Presented by Google
A special STEAM & Storytelling “Speed Dating” event hosted by Google to bring STEAM and diversity inspiration to filmmakers at the NALIP Media Summit. Six (6) Google engineers will speak for seven (7) minutes to groups of 5-10 people about the most cutting-edge, interesting aspects of their fields. Fields/topics include: Virtual Reality, Data Visualization, Chrome, X's moonshots such as drone delivery, computer science, and more. After their time is up, the speakers will rotate to a new group and give a similar talk. After the rotations conclude, the speakers and audience will reconvene, for a spirited Q&A session, moderated by Daraiha Greene, Multicultural Strategy Lead for Google's Computer Science in Media Team. Filmmakers will learn how engineers were first inspired to pursue their respective fields, as well as which TV & film characters they looked up to growing up.

During a time of fast-paced media consumption, this session will focus on the hybrid between journalism, documentary and new platforms that allow Latinx voices to be heard. As we maneuver the next four years under a new presidential administration, we want to empower our members to share compassion and empathy through the many stories begging to be told within our nation and our world.

This panel brings a closer look to life behind the scenes.Panelists will share their experience in the writer’s room and discuss topics such as what inspires them to create content, and why incorporating diversity and personal experience in the creative process is key when it comes to altering the current media landscape and telling new stories from different perspectives. Find out what it’s like collaborating on projects like, “One Day at A Time”, and learn about the thought process behind the creation of original series and programs.

In a time where digital platforms are succeeding and growing their audience, panelists will discuss the value of buying and producing original content. Through the Eyes of a Cinematographer: Master Class • Cinematography Master Class
This session is one of a kind, featuring cinematography master, Dana Gonzales. Known for his work on successful productions such as Legion, Fargo and Southland, Gonzales will use this session as an interactive case study. Join us as he demonstrates the creative aspect of imagining an artistic look, and actually making it happen. Find out why Gonzales has earned the title master by heading camera and lighting departments, as he breaks down his role of director of photography through engaging, and interactive strategies and demonstrations.

Animation Master Class • Presented by Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios
Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios will host NALIP’s Animation Master Class, welcoming Moana producer Osnat Shurer, Cars 3 co-producer Andrea Warren, and Coco co-director/screenwriter Adrian Molina. The filmmakers will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the making of an animated feature, sharing some of the secrets of their storytelling and revealing details about the process of finding and building unique stories that are relatable to audiences worldwide.

The Saturday night Gala Awards Dinner is when NALIP presents its annual Lifetime Achievement, Estela, and Lupe Awards, which celebrate outstanding and historic achievements in Latino Media. Past Award winners include: Moctezuma Esparza, Edward James Olmos, Kenny Ortega, Rita Moreno, Lupe Ontiveros, Andy Garcia, Danny Trejo, Gina Rodriguez, Raul Castillo, Dascha Polanco, Raquel Welch and Eugenio Derbez!
