An innovator in kids and family entertainment, Birk Rawlings has spent the past 15 years developing and producing content for some of the most acclaimed studios in the industry. In his current role as the Head of DreamWorksTV, AwesomenessTV’s kids and family division, Rawlings is shaping the digital media and entertainment landscape for kids today. In 2014, DreamWorks Animation and AwesomenessTV hired Rawlings to connect with kids on YouTube by creating fun, fresh short-form content made just for them. Since then, he has stewarded DreamWorksTV’s evolution from a YouTube Channel into a breakthrough entertainment brand for kids with content accessible on multiple platforms around the world. He oversees all aspects of AwesomenessTV’s kids and family business, including development, production and distribution of more than 100 original live action and animated series. Under Rawlings’ leadership, DreamWorksTV has been recognized as one of the fastest growing digital entertainment brands for kids and is the #1 major kids brand on YouTube.
Before joining DreamWorksTV, Rawlings was Vice President of Animation Development at Nickelodeon where he led the series development team, working directly under President of Animation, Brown Johnson. During his tenure at Nickelodeon, Rawlings oversaw the production of nearly 30 original shorts and numerous pilots, of which five were series pick-ups including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Kung Fu Panda, and Sanjay & Craig.
Rawlings was also previously Director of Creative Affairs at Walt Disney Feature Animation, where he set up more than a dozen original projects and shepherded a full slate through the feature development process. He was involved in nearly every film in the animation studio’s pipeline during his time at Disney including Tangled, The Princess & The Frog, Chicken Little, Brother Bear and Meet the Robinsons.
Before joining Disney, Rawlings worked in live-action development at Spyglass Entertainment and Fresco Pictures.
