Cristina is an award-winning independent filmmaker with roots along the US/Mexico border. Her new documentary, The Infiltrators, received the NEXT Audience and Innovator Award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.The New York Times calls her previous documentary, Las Marthas, “a striking alternative portrait of border life." It premiered on Independent Lens and was awarded the Best US Latino Film by Cinema Tropical. Her film, The Last Conquistador, which premiered on POV, was described as “heroic” by USA Today. Her directorial debut, Dirty Laundry: A Homemade Telenovela, was broadcast on PBS. She is currently a Soros and a Rauschenberg fellow.
