David Arata is recognized as one of Hollywood’s best screenwriters. He received an Oscar nomination and won the Scripter Award for CHILDREN OF MEN (Clive Owen and Julianne Moore). His other credits include SPY GAME (Robert Redford and Brad Pitt), BROKEDOWN PALACE (Claire Danes and Kate Beckinsale) and THE ANGEL (Marwan Kenzari, Toby Kebbell and Hannah Ware).
He has been fortunate enough to work closely with a number of the most talented and accomplished directors in the world -- including Peter Weir, Alfonso Cuarón, and Tony Scott -- and has written screenplays that have attracted some of the world’s most iconic actors to projects. He is currently attached to a variety of active projects, either as a screenwriter, director, producer, or television creator and executive producer.
Arata originally pursued painting, and then moved from visual arts to play directing and writing. Prior to that, he was a deliverer of laundry, a designer of bespoke aquariums, and a phone answerer at a suicide hotline.
