Writer/Director, Her Vow
NALIP Media Summit Official Selection Q&A Session 1
Rafael Soto was born to Puerto Rican parents and raised in New York's South Bronx. Upon graduating from Pace University, he moved to Los Angeles, attended the Baron Brown Acting Studio, and was cast in several indie films.
Disillusioned by the clichéd, one-dimensional, grossly misrepresented Latino bit parts available, he began to devote all his energy to screenwriting. Rafael's religious horror film, 33, was a finalist in the 6th Annual Search for New Blood Contest in 2019. Most recently, he has completed his short film, Su Promesa (Her Vow), a finalist for the Creative World Short Screenwriting Awards in 2019. Su Promesa follows the life of a fifteen-year-old girl, forced into child marriage, in modern-day Guatemala.
