Ruben Garcia is an Executive at leading entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA), where he helps conceptualize and execute strategies to support the agency's overall inclusion and equity efforts. In this role, he collaborates with company leadership to build inclusive business practices and liaises with clients and organizations focused on implementing and promoting diversity across the industry. In addition, Garcia works within the CAA Foundation to advise and consult clients on their prosocial and philanthropic initiatives. A long-time leader in the promotion of inclusion, CAA continues to develop and implement strategies to create sustainable change, within the agency and beyond. Garcia plays an integral role in guiding CAA's corporate partnerships and in the creation, growth and management of the agency's slate of diversity programs, including CAA Amplify, The Writers' Boot Camp, Creators Summit series, and CAA Amplify: Next Gen.
In 2017, CAA hosted the first Writers' Boot Camp, a daylong workshop to help emerging writers from diverse backgrounds accelerate their creative careers within television. In 2013, Garcia helped lead a cross-agency effort to launch CAA Amplify: Next Gen, a networking and professional development event to foster the growth of future diverse industry leaders. He also oversees CAA's Creators Summit series, educational experiences for content creators hosted in partnership with major industry events and diversity organizations, such as the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) and GLAAD.
Most recently, Garcia led efforts to host the third annual CAA Amplify, a premier, invitation-only gathering of multicultural artists, business leaders and activists from entertainment, media, sports, corporate brands, and social justice. The event was designed to connect key influencers and decision-makers to strategize around the most pressing business and social challenges, and to generate opportunities that raise the value of diversity across industries.
Since joining CAA, Garcia has established a variety of internal programs to help attract, develop, and retain a new generation of industry executives. He advises on the agency's diversity recruitment strategy and global internship program, and created and launched CAAedu, an internal career development program for agency employees. In 2012, he established CAA's employee committee initiative, a global effort to foster an inclusive corporate culture that values diversity of talent, backgrounds, and ideas. He currently leads the Industry Advisory Board for the Latino Film Institute, an organization dedicated to showcasing, strengthening and celebrating the richness of Latino narratives across all forms of entertainment media, and serves on the Entertainment Industry Council for the UCLA Alumni Association. Additionally, Garcia is part of the inaugural class of Ojai Fellows, a leadership and development fellowship for next generation business leaders.
Prior to joining CAA in 2011, Garcia worked in recruitment at Paramount Pictures and The Walt Disney Company. A native of San Diego, he is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in Sociology.
